The Nissan Leaf and the Chevrolet Volt are each electrically driven cars that hint at the green future of automobiles, but each takes a different approach to solving the issue of fossil fuel consumption. With that premise in mind, we present this musically driven side-by-side comparison video to help illustrate a few of the vehicles' similarities and differences.

Leaf all the way...Volt will become obsolete car when really kiks the EV market in US.5-10years guess.Future EV's will have way more range!! It's like we bought plasma tv 7 years ago? for $3.000 and today nobody wants it for $200..Cell phone batteries went up last 10 years remarkably. The same thing will happen with EV's,they will get better and better. It's a start people!

get a load of the cheap interior in the volt the stitching looks? sub par too on the volt
neither car is inspiring but the volt is subpar
I've been thinking ...
I've been thinking about getting a Leaf, but at 1:22 I see a deal breaker, an obstructing connection in the 6 o'clock position on the steering? wheel. Driving any significant distance and not being able to comfortably rest one's hand squarely in the 6 o'clock position becomes a real pain ... literally. I see the volt has the same drawback. Maybe I can get a different type of steering wheel? Guess I'll go look at the Tesla Model S and X now. Gonna LOVE my new EV. I just know it!
Its the Volt for? ...
Its the Volt for? me: looks better, quality build (the side-by-side video is great).

I would take a Leaf.? :-)
gm says = What ...
gm says = What this all means is that the Volt first operates as an electric vehicle, and then it switches to be both a series hybrid (extended range electric vehicle) and a parallel hybrid (like the Prius) depending on the? type of driving.
A pure electric vehicle it might not be in the strictest sense of the word, but a technological innovation it most certainly still is.
Volt Is not 100% ...
Volt Is not 100% electric. you might as well call it a hybrid. If it has a combustion engine built-in then it's not 100%. I doesn't matter what the engine does in the car the fact that it's built as part of the car then its a hybrid right? If you want to go pure 100% electric then get rid of the engine.. the volt is still dependent on gas. the Leaf on the other hand IS 100% pure electric. Someone said they are not in the same league. ? They are absolutely right!!!!
Actually they ARE ...
Actually they ARE in the same league....both 100% electric driven. It's only *if* you drain? the batteries below a certain point that a gas powered generator kicks in to recharge the battery...however if you drive it the same range as the Leaf, then the generator won't come on. Just think of the Volt's generator as a way to drive your electric long distances....something that the Leaf can't do without many recharging stops.
The leaf is 100% ...
The leaf is 100% electric and the volt isn't.? they aren't in the same league!!! Handsdown leaf.
Toyota and honda ...
Toyota and honda suck . There unsafe , I'll buy? GM , and Ford , not dodge thought they suck too !!!

True.....I was just ...
True.....I was just debating in regard to electric power in cars... I do, however, find buyers guides...such as Consumer Reports to be quite reliable, especially in regard to older vehicles. They are often incredibly accurate. And actually, Consumer Reports rated Honda (1), Toyota (2), and Subaru (3) as highest in reliability for 2011. Not surprising at all to me..... Interesitng that BMW, Chrysler and Mercedes were rated? worst...LOL
Reliability is ...
Reliability is debatable, one way or another. I hate Toyotas they drive like boring s**t but thats just personal preference. If you like Toyotas, the Matrix or Corolla are much better more? enjoyable to drive than the Prius and have a lower true cost of ownership.
You haven't done ...
You haven't done your research if you include the? Cruze. That one has had obvious major problems. Interesting...but not necessarily reliable. The Prius has been extremely successful...for good reason. The Plug-in is out real soon...and the aftermarket plug-in kit has been available for some time now. I've had my share of cars...and rarely have had a Ford / GM / Chrysler that have been low maintenance. My best vehicle has been a Honda Civic. VW's have not been good.
Without going into ...
Without going into too much detail my point is a Prius is a dumb choice of car. A Cruze, Sonic, Elantra, Mazda3, TDI, FIt,? Focus etc. are all more enjoyable vehicles, with lower true costs of ownership including predicted maintenance costs. BTW Toyota reliability has fallen to 5th according to JD Power.
Plug-in Prius? ...
Plug-in Prius? Aren't we talking about cars that exist? Cars? you or I could buy from a dealership right now? Somehow you know the reliability of a Plug-In Prius? Lets be realistic: the Plug In Prius, Volt and Leaf are all a horrible value. The Plug in Prius can not be used as a pure electric vehicle like the Volt or Leaf. BTW I drive a 2005 and it still has a lower true cost of ownership then any of those and 400+ HP.
Explain how the ...
Explain how the Cruze and TDI do better than the Prius. For 2012 models the Volt, Cruze, and Jetta TDI turbodiesel all? rated from 42 - 44 mpg for US EPA rating. The Prius was rated at 50 mpg. Tell me where you got stats that have Cruze or TDI rated better than the Prius. And then have a look at reliability as that can be a major cost in the lifetime of a vehicle.
Once again, you ...
Once again, you need to look at reliability also. The Chevy Cruze has had? some major issues to date....and not sure how VW has done lately, but they are surely not known for being low maintenance vehicles. Have you noticed what cab drivers tend to use? I've noticed tha the Prius is very common, and I've never noticed any of the other vehicles you mention used for cabs. There is stats and there is reality...both are relevant. Which particular TDI model are you mentioning?
I just think the ...
I just think the common Volt vs Leaf comparision is not really the best comparison. The Volt vs Prius comparision is the most valid, as they are now both plug-in hybrids. The Prius has had a plug-in kit for a little while now also. When the Volt is compared to the Leaf, the Volt bandwagon touts range anxiety. To do justice, you have to at least compare both ways.? For strictly electric, it's clear that the best value is in the Leaf...savings of 12k and more range...
